This series of workshops is open to students, faculty, and staff (plus their families and friends) of The Christ College of Nursing & Health Sciences. You will be asked to provide your TCC email address or relationship to the college upon registration.
Empowerment through Self-Defense teaches individuals how to prevent violence by listening to their intuition, assessing their options, and asserting boundaries, and it provides a range of verbal and physical responses to unwelcomed attention or touch. Participants will learn how to use their posture and voice to deter unwanted contact and will practice active assault resistance using simple strikes and escapes from grabs. All ages, body types, and abilities are welcome in this fun, dynamic, and empowering workshop.
Session 1 Focus: Mental Self-Defense (Awareness, Intuition, Attitude)
The first 30 people to pre-register and also attend at least one session will get a FREE self-care bag and a chance to win one of three copies of the latest edition of Gavin de Becker’s international bestseller The Gift of Fear: And Other Survival Signals that Protect Us from Violence.
The workshop will be offered outdoors on the campus greenspace, with The Commons as a backup location.
