Writing ReConnection

at the Center, with Emily Schubert

Painful or traumatic life experiences can often leave us speechless—we’re not sure how to tell our stories, or even feel like we have words for what has happened. Sometimes our words have been taken from us by shame or forced silence. We can feel separated from our language, our memories, and from ourselves. This creative writing group meets on Thursdays at 7:45 p.m. and provides a safe, judgment-free, open space to explore our own language and reclaim our voices. Through this process, we can reconnect with our embodied experiences, the power of our own words, and our senses of self. (Participants will NOT be required to share their writing; this class, as with all our classes, honors personal agency and consent. YOU decide when and if you share.) The fee for Writing Reconnection is donation based. Suggested donation is $5. All donated funds pay for class materials and refreshments.

Nia

at the Annex, with Trish Riley

More than just a workout, Nia fills a void where other traditional fitness programs fall short.  A powerful fusion of dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices, Nia is a holistic movement and wellness practice addressing each aspect of your life - body, mind, and spirit. Nia is typically practiced barefoot to soul-stirring music, inviting us to tune in to the wisdom of our bodies, to move in ways that feel good, and to find connection  and JOY in community.  Nia is adaptable for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Nia classes are held at the Annex on Wednesday mornings from 9 to 10 am and on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 pm. Single class registration is $20. Or you can purchase a class pass or membership for discounted rates.

Art of Empowerment

at the Center, with Charlotte Reed of Art Equals

Color. Texture. Shape. Dimension. All these beautiful elements of our experience get flattened or dimmed in the noise of the modern world or under the weight of traumatic experience. Play, experiment, (re)discover, and enjoy your own creative impulses in a space that prioritizes fun, freedom, and community.
